A live-in maid lives in your home, while a live-out maid returns to separate accommodation after work. The main differences are the space you provide, the cost of accommodation and transport, your household’s privacy and how you organise daily support.
In Dubai, you also need to check the employment arrangement. Where a maid lives does not tell you who sponsors her or which responsibilities belong to you. Direct household employment and services supplied through a licensed domestic worker centre follow different contractual structures.
We offer full-time live-in and live-out maid services under our company sponsorship. This guide helps you compare the arrangements based on your home, budget and routine.
Live-In vs Live-Out Maid in Dubai
A live-in maid lives in your home and works according to an agreed daily schedule. You provide suitable accommodation, and her working periods remain separate from her breaks, rest and time off.
A live-out maid works agreed hours in your home and returns to separate accommodation afterwards. The arrangement must follow an authorised employment or service structure. Under the UAE domestic worker executive regulations, a household and licensed recruitment office can agree on accommodation away from the workplace under the temporary-employment framework.
We offer both options under our company sponsorship. Your choice depends on your available space, required schedule, budget and household privacy.
Live-In vs Live-Out Maid Costs in Dubai
Compare the total household cost, including expenses outside the service fee. A lower monthly price does not account for the space, meals or other responsibilities your household takes on.
Our full-time live-in packages start from AED 2,500 per month, and our full-time live-out packages start from AED 3,700 per month, excluding 5% VAT.
[SME CONFIRMATION REQUIRED: confirm whether the AED 3,700 live-out price includes the AED 1,200 accommodation and transportation allowance. The pricing card and FAQ wording differ.]
Costs to Check for a Live-In Arrangement
For a managed service, check the monthly fee and what you provide at home, including accommodation and meals.
For direct employment, build a separate budget for recruitment, salary, work-permit and residency processing, medical requirements, healthcare, accommodation, food and applicable travel obligations. Confirm which costs are included in any recruitment or administrative fee.
A one-time recruitment payment should not be compared with a monthly managed-service price as though they cover the same responsibilities.
Costs to Check for a Live-Out Arrangement
Check the service fee alongside accommodation and transport arrangements. Establish whether those expenses are included, paid through an allowance or charged separately.
Request the total payment before signing, including VAT and any additional agreed charges. For hourly or daily services, also check minimum bookings and cancellation terms.
A full-time live-out service and occasional domestic help serve different schedules. Compare quotes for the amount of support your household needs.
Do You Need to Provide Accommodation?
If you directly employ a domestic worker, suitable accommodation is an employer obligation under Article 11 of the UAE domestic worker law. The law also addresses meals, appropriate work clothing and healthcare responsibilities.
Calling the arrangement “live-out” does not remove the accommodation duty. Establish the permitted employment structure before deciding that the worker will arrange housing independently.
For licensed temporary employment, the regulations allow a different residence arrangement to be agreed between the household and recruitment office. The service agreement should identify how accommodation is handled.
For live-in support, assess your available space before selecting a worker. As practical preparation, consider privacy, sleeping conditions, access to washing facilities and somewhere to keep personal belongings. These considerations should not be presented as a universal statutory room-size or private-bathroom rule.
How Do Daily Arrangements Differ?
A live-in arrangement removes the daily journey between accommodation and your home. A live-out arrangement requires agreed attendance times and transport planning. Both need a manageable workload and protected rest.
